About Pinaki Sarder
Pinaki Sarder, Ph.D., FASN, SMIEEE, is currently an Associate Professor of AI in the Section of Quantitative Health, Department of Medicine, and the Associate Director for Imaging at the Intelligent Critical Care Center, University of Florida (UF). Prior to joining UF, he served as an Associate Professor in the Departments of Pathology & Anatomical Sciences and Biomedical Engineering at the University at Buffalo (UB), where he played a central role in developing the computationally enabled graduate program Computational Cell Biology, Anatomy, and Pathology.
Dr. Sarder completed his postdoctoral training at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (2003), and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis (2010).
He is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), an Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, and a Senior Member of IEEE. He also serves as Research Co-Lead for ASN’s Augmented Intelligence and Digital Health Task Force and is a member of the Research & Scientific Committee of the Renal Pathology Society.
Dr. Sarder received the Exceptional Scholars – Young Investigator Award from UB in 2018. His research interests span Digital & Computational Pathology and Computational Spatial Biology, with a focus on kidney diseases. His work is supported by the National Institutes of Health and includes participation in both the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP) and the Human Biomolecular Atlas Project (HuBMAP) consortia.
