Clinical Sciences Division

The Clinical Sciences Division of the CICMD is comprised of faculty, students, and postdoctoral trainees from across the UF campus. Together we strive to promote the detection, prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic disease through research focused on leading treatment for the full spectrum of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. CICMD members in the Clinical Sciences Division use human models to develop and implement cutting-edge treatment strategies for conditions related to cardiovascular, endocrine, and metabolic diseases including obesity, diabetes, and renal disease.

 Areas of Focus

Major areas of research focus include optimizing prevention and treatment of:

  • Stroke, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Renal Disease

The division brings together investigators from many departments and institutes across the University of Florida: UF HSC, IFAS, and PHHP including the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics (COM), Clinical and Health Psychology (PHHP), Department of Nutrition (IFAS), Department of Medicine (COM), the UF Health Cancer Institute, Diabetes Institute and the Institute for Child Health Policy.
